Basalt High seniors Katelyn Maley and Ava Lane secured second and sixth place, respectively, in the Class 3A girls final at the Colorado High School Activities Association state cross country championship meet at Norris Penrose Events Center in Colorado Springs. Maley, a two-time state champion, covered the 5-kilometer layout in 18:15.2 and Lane clocked 18:45.4, helping Basalt earn eighth overall with 230 points. Lane improved from eighth place last year and Maley became the first three-time all-state female competitor in program history.
